The Somerville Foundation – Covid-19 Appeal
Dear Supporter
We trust that you are all taking care in the current climate and please be assured that we are working extremely hard to represent you, our patients, and your families at this difficult time. There has never been an occasion when our presence has been more important, in representing you at the very top of the NHS, working with specialists and the ACHD nursing teams and addressing your concerns.
The long and the short of it is that our fundraising activities have essentially stopped. The companies that actively support us have, for obvious reasons, had to divert cash to support their own businesses, as well as all the wonderful running, cycling, climbing activities to raise much-needed funding all being cancelled. This is creating a huge decrease in our ability to be sustainable. We need your urgent support.
It costs approximately £7,500 a month to run our charity. There are 1,423 members on this dedicated Facebook group page. If everyone donated just £15 we would raise enough money to run the charity for around four months. This would create enough time for fundraising to begin again in earnest and our financial supporters hopefully to bounce back. Without your support we will need to review vital services, such as our helpline, counselling services and support work as well postpone important events that are planned for later in the year.
We have always made a point of not asking our community for this type of support, but these are extremely difficult times for everyone. We can’t do what we do without you and in order to support ACHD patients like yourself, we need to be there for you all. Now is the time to act! We are asking for £15, but any amount will be helpful and clearly the more you feel you can give, the better and quicker to reach our goal.
