By joining SHF, you will have access to our patient services and dedicated area on our website. This access does not give you any voting rights or entitle you privileged access to the board, trustees, users or community members. We reserve the right to terminate any account/profile of someone who does not comply with our policies.
Dedicated Areas For Users
The dedicated areas on our website have open forums and can be viewed by other users. Therefore, please be careful what you post – do not post anything confidential, contact details or personal information which could put yourself or someone else at risk. Do not share any personal information. If you plan to meet anyone you have befriended on the internet, never go alone and always meet in a public place. Please note that we cannot and do not vet any users or verify their identity.
At no point may ANY medical advice be given by any user or employee of SHF. If you have any concerns at anytime you must speak to your healthcare professional, or ring the NHS helpline on 111 or 999 for emergencies.
You should be 18 years old to join but we do accept younger CHD patients in the process of transferring to adult services or already in adult services as long as it is understood that occasionally content may be of a distressing, triggering or sexual nature.
Non-compliant posts, comments, users or concerns may be to directed the office.
Any communication or material you transmit to, or post on, any public area of the website including any data, questions, comments, suggestions or the like is, and will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary information. You are responsible for any content you post, and you must ensure it is legal, not inaccurate or misleading and that you have all necessary third-party rights and permissions.
We do not tolerate any posts, links or comments which are offensive, threatening, racist or discriminatory and we reserve the right to delete any comments or remove any content that we think is inappropriate or falls short of our standards, and we may block users if considered necessary.
Content posted by users cannot be considered to represent the views or values of SHF and we do not accept responsibility or liability for any content posted by non-SHF staff or officers.
Donations and Payments
Although SHF seeks to protect online payment details in accordance with CAF’s responsibility, the security of such information transmitted via the Internet cannot be guaranteed. As such any data transferred is at your own risk.
Payments made on our online shop are done through Paypal.
Our Products and Services
Any purchases from our Website (including our online shop) will be subject to our online shop terms and conditions.
Sometimes we may offer free products, services or events through our Website, for example online games or activities, information packs, and meet ups. Because these are free of charge, they are all provided at our discretion, on an “as is” basis, and we cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage if we are unable to provide those items, or if they do not conform to any stated specifications. Should we offer any discounts on our products or services, the Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion and does not apply to delivery fees or services.
Returned items will be refunded at the discounted price paid. This does not affect your statutory rights.
The Discount cannot be exchanged for cash and is non-transferable.
The SF reserves the right to (i) cancel this offer at any time; (ii) refuse to allow any individual to participate in the offer; (iii) amend these terms and conditions.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the English courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction in the event of a dispute.

Fundraising Regulator
SHF proudly works with the Fundraising Regulator. This is because we are committed to the highest standards in fundraising and strive to always work in a way that is effective, open and honest. We are dedicated to raising funds in the most cost-effective ways in order to support adults and young people with CHD.
The Fundraising Regulator is an independent body who set and maintain the standards for charitable fundraising. The board’s primary function is to deal with complaints about fundraising activity from members of the public, allowing people to give to charitable organisations with confidence.
By joining the Fundraising Regulator we agree to adhere to the Code of Fundraising Practice and the Fundraising Promise.
Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
Photos and Videos
Photographs and videos will be taken throughout each Event by SHF or its group companies and/or its contractors and/or its agents by relying on legitimate interest as a lawful basis for doing so. The Participant must make it known immediately to SHF staff if they do not wish to be included in any photos or videos.

Participants understand that the event is not organised by Somerville Heart Foundation but by a third party (Event Organiser). It is the responsibility of the participant to read any terms and conditions issued by the Event Organisers and comply with these.
A non-refundable registration fee is required to reserve your place. The fee will be communicated to you by email as well as how to make payment.
By registering for this challenge, you are pledging to raise the minimum sponsorship fee as communicated by email (in addition to the registration fee). You must endeavour to raise as much as possible above this amount.
You must carry out your fundraising in accordance with the guidelines set out in the fundraising pack, which will be sent out to you following confirmation of your registration.
Should you, for whatever reason, not take up your place, all sponsor forms and sponsor money collected must be forwarded to Somerville Heart Foundation or returned to sponsors if request and if this is possible.
You will contact Somerville Heart Foundation immediately if you need to withdraw from the event.
You agree to complete an online registration with the event organiser if needed and understand failure to do by the deadline may result in your place being lost.
Participants must be at least 18 years old by the event date.
By completing the registration you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, your general state of health and fitness is good. You acknowledge that you are taking part in this event at your own risk.
You agree that Somerville Heart Foundation and official third party providers may use without payment, notice or further consent any photographs, videos and other images in which you appear which are taken at an Event or Event-related occasion by our employees or suppliers or any participant or other person attending, in our brochure, website, social network marketing activities or any other relevant promotional material. Somerville Heart Foundation will not, however, identify anyone by name without their agreement. Should you prefer that Somerville Heart Foundation do not use any such images in which you may appear which are taken at the Event or any Event-related occasion in any promotional materials or if you do not wish to be the subject of any photography, please notify us.
