It is likely you already know you have Congenital Heart Disease as many cases are now detected before birth during an ultra sound scan. However, CHD may not be diagnosed until after a baby is born, with some conditions not being discovered until adulthood.
Through our Health Based Youth Worker, Xander, we are able to offer face to face and online support for young CHD patients and their families

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. Mental health is just as important as physical health at every stage of life.
Lifestyle is the way you live your life and the decisions you make. It can include things like diet, exercise, alcohol, smoking, education, relationships …. the list goes on and on!
Did you know that being physically active can help you be happier, sleep better, improve your skin, be more creative and that’s just a few of the benefits of exercise.
Surgery will only be undertaken if clinically required. Your case will be discussed by Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons, and Anaesthetists to make sure that what is being proposed will be a good outcome for you.
Sexual Health is about being informed and safe when engaging in any intimate contact with another person and that both parties consent to any sexual activity that may take place.
Recreational drugs, smoking, alcohol and vaping can have a different effect on your body if you are born with a heart condition.
During your transition journey from child to adult services you may have had conversations about pregnancy and contraception, but you may not have taken too much notice as it was so far in the future.
