Important Alert for those with Mechanical Heart Valves

The NHS has put out a “Safety Alert” in respect of the anti-coagulation medication for this type of valve in light of some patients having been moved from Warfarin.
If you have a mechanical valve and are not currently taking warfarin as your anti-coagulation medication then please make contact with your specialist centre immediately as the NHS alert states warfarin must be used in these cases. If you are on warfarin you have nothing to worry about. If you are not under a Specialist Centre, you can get in touch with us by emailing admin@thesf.org.uk.
👉It only affects mechanical valves.
