James, born with complex CHD, will share his story of finding ‘me’ through ‘changing the narrative’. He hopes to offer a fresh outlook on what might be possible.

Exercise and Physical Activity for Adults with Congenital Heart Disease.

Elaine is an Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service (SACCS). Her talk will include:

• The benefits of exercise – physical and psychological
• How can we monitor and track progress
• Considerations on the type and intensity of exercise

She will also talk about the SEA Change study which looked at the feasibility of implementing a simple supported exercise programme in to clinical practice. It was low cost and suitable for all as it was based on breathing exercises, a walking program and home based strength exercises.
