Ask Fiona
Fiona Kennedy is a valuable member of our Board of Trustees – joining us almost 10 years ago! She proof-reads articles for GUCH News and is a massive help to staff with her wealth of healthcare knowledge and has kindly offered to answer any questions you might have during this particularly worrying time.

Fiona is a member of the British Adult Congenital Cardiac Nurses Association (BACCNA) and co-ordinates the Adult Congenital Heart Course for Nurses at Barts Health NHS Trust. She trained as an adult nurse at Kings College Hospital before moving to the Evelina at Guys hospital as a children’s nurse where she first gained experience of looking after infants and children born with congenital heart disease. Fiona moved to the Royal Brompton Hospital for more specialist cardio-thoracic nurse training following which she became one of the ‘Sisters’ on the children’s cardiac ward.
During this time she did a teaching course at the University of Greenwich and a BSc at the Royal College of Nursing / University of Manchester, then moving South and teaching student nurses before taking up a new role at Southampton General Hospital as a paediatric cardiac nurse specialist. Fiona subsequently returned to University College Hospital London joining the ACHD team as a nurse specialist. Fiona has been inspired by the many people she has met over the years during her career in congenital heart nursing.
She enjoys cooking for family and friends, pottering in the garden, is trying to keep fit and loves watching ballet.
